An espresso grinder needs adjustment suitable for the espresso setup you intend to use. A filter-only routine has a different set of priorities. Write the intended methods on the shortlist rather than assuming every grinder labeled “all purpose” is equally convenient across them.
Compare the daily actions
Consider loading beans, adjusting a setting, catching grounds and brushing the area clean. A manual grinder trades electrical convenience for hand effort. An electric grinder needs power and counter space. Noise, grip and reach are individual concerns worth checking in person when possible.
Read the service information
Find the manual before buying. Look for how burr access works, which parts can be replaced and whether support is available in your market. Do not apply a cleaning method from another grinder without checking compatibility. The fact that a part can be removed does not mean it can be washed.
Keep settings local to your grinder
A click number belongs to a model and calibration, not to coffee in general. Use the manufacturer’s starting guidance, record what you tried and adjust against your own brew. Avoid buying a second grinder before you can describe what the current one cannot do.
